Two girlfriends, one boyfriend and a Lucy Darling show: 'I knew it' passes a million

A crowd-work short about a man whose two partners each made him take them to see Lucy turned its comment section into friendly matchmaking.

On a usual day, Carisa Hendrix's channel draws around four million views. Lately it has been running closer to five and a half million, and most of the lift comes from Lucy Darling, the glamorous, sharp-tongued character Hendrix built out of magic, comedy and old-fashioned stage manners.

Five shorts went up, and the one that crossed a million is "I knew it." It is crowd work in its purest form: Lucy finds a man in the audience who is dating two women, both of whom insisted he bring them to her show. The room gasps, and Lucy waves it off with a quick suggestion that they are probably poly and it's fine. Viewers keep quoting that line, along with a well-timed "Oh Nuo!" and a fan held up like a shield. Many of the most liked comments have already planned the next step: the two women should meet, ideally at another Lucy Darling show, since they clearly share at least one taste.

The newer shorts are moving fastest. "ASMR With Lucy Darling" and "How very Rockford of them" both gathered views at a brisk clip, the second only hours old, and with "I'll never take you for granite" it makes two Rockford titles in one week. Perhaps that Illinois crowd gave her a lot to work with.

The channel added about 30,000 subscribers over seven days. Among comedy channels of a similar size, only Sophia & Noelle gained more views this week, while Colby Martel and Gabi Jones were also running well above their usual pace.
