Three chicken-and-egg shorts, and a giant water balloon without VFX
Six weeks after it went up, the balloon video has passed 3.8 million views and is the busiest thing on a channel with over 3.5 billion lifetime views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Chicken Vision #funny
Buttered Side Down has passed three and a half billion lifetime views, built from first-person comedy where a pair of hands tries a simple craft and reality refuses to cooperate.
The week's three new shorts form a small poultry trilogy. "Chicken Vision #funny" came first, with a one-line description wondering whether the bird is an Uber. "How to Train Your Chicken #funny" followed two days later, and "How to make a Big Egg #funny" closed the run, its description asking whether the sage or the algorithm deserves the credit. The egg is the one moving: it is gathering views several times faster than the two chicken shorts before it.
The real momentum belongs to an older video. "Giant Water Balloon but without VFX," posted six weeks ago, is still the channel's busiest by a wide margin, and its description shrugs: what even is real anymore. For a channel whose whole joke is that the impossible happens on camera, a title promising no effects is a neat twist. "Learning To Boomerang," from July, with music credited to Harry Nicholson, keeps pace with the new egg short.
Among the comedy sketch channels nearest in size, Viva La Dirt League, The Johnson Brothers and Smosh Alike are all running above their usual pace, while Dimucc and sWooZie are having a calmer stretch.
