What happens in court when someone arrested on terror charges walks out on bail? Daniel ShenSmith, the barrister of England and Wales behind BlackBeltBarrister (and, as his about text notes, a seventh-degree black belt), opened his week with exactly that question. "How Are Terror Suspects Released on Bail?!" went up on Monday and has since passed 550,000 views, most of them on its first day.
Bail stayed on the docket. A day later came "Daniel Thomas "Tommo" Refused BAIL", and the rest of the fourteen uploads kept to the channel's usual mix of court rulings and public anger, from "Catastrophically BAD Judgment"! to "Are we Routinely Misled and Lied to?" The bail explainer's comment section is almost entirely about British politics rather than the law itself.
The freshest energy belongs to newer titles. "Outrageous: Guilty of having an Opinion?!", barely a day old, is drawing views faster than anything else he has posted, and "Tax raid on your pension" shows the money side of his work getting its turn too.
The channel as a whole has been running well above its ordinary daily pace, and about 6,000 new subscribers arrived over the week. Among similar political commentary channels, only RattlesnakeTV added more views, while Rogan Shorts and Tennessee Brando also had busy weeks and J.J. McCullough's was a quiet one.
At 976,000 subscribers, the barrister is within reach of seven figures.
