A boyfriend's 'sudden collapse' story unravels in Beyond Evil's newest bodycam case
The October 1 upload passed 280,000 views in its first day and a half, and an August case nearing six million is still drawing a steady audience.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Dad Discovers His Daughter Exposed His Evil Secret
Beyond Evil posted two cases this week. Both are told the way the channel says it prefers, through police bodycam and interrogation footage, with the attention on the people affected.
The newer one, "Dad Discovers His Daughter Exposed His Evil Secret," went up on October 1. It follows police called to a woman found unresponsive. Her boyfriend says she simply collapsed, and as detectives work through his account, the description says, they come to suspect he is hiding something. It took in more than 230,000 views on its first day, and it is now the channel's busiest video.
The week's other upload, from September 27, is a standoff. A man confesses to killing his girlfriend, and officers keep him talking to find out what happened and to keep him alive. In the comments, viewers return to a line he repeats in the footage, that nothing has happened that cannot be undone. Many answer that for the woman he killed, it cannot. Others take apart his account of his military service, pointing out that it was short and that he was never deployed.
An older case is also still drawing viewers. "Dad Discovers Son-in-Law Just Killed His Pregnant Daughter," posted in early August, is close to six million views and keeps adding about 100,000 a day.
Together these cases have the channel running at roughly three times its usual daily views, and they added about two million views and 10,000 subscribers over the week. Among true crime channels of a similar size, Matthew Cox | Inside True Crime is having by far the biggest week, and True Lives and Willie D Live are also well above their usual pace. Beyond Evil's weekly gain puts it in the middle of that group.
