Russia, Hitler and a 'mogged' host: Ben Shapiro turns to Tucker Carlson's own show
Episode 2519 drew nearly ten times the usual comments, and much of the talk is about the English guest across the table from Carlson.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 580,641 views a day, 7.7 times a normal first day on this channel (75,785).
Watch Tucker Carlson Get Dismantled on His Own Show
A full episode of The Ben Shapiro Show usually closes its first day somewhere around 75,000 views. "Watch Tucker Carlson Get Dismantled on His Own Show" had passed half a million within 18 hours of going up.
The episode is built on footage from Carlson's own program. Shapiro's description sums it up his way: Carlson praises Russia, argues that a Hitler victory in World War II would have been no great matter, "and gets mogged." That last word works as a pun. In the comments the man doing the mogging is "the Englishman" or "Mr. Mogg," and many viewers are writing about how patient he stayed and how calmly he made his case.
The history is taking up the rest of the comment section. Several people bring up Neville Chamberlain and his 1938 deal with Hitler as a reply to the argument, others go back to Pearl Harbor, and a few recall Carlson's trip to Moscow, where a supermarket visit became a talking point of its own. More than 4,000 comments arrived in those first 18 hours, on a channel where a regular video usually draws a few hundred in its whole first day.
The other episodes from the same Monday stayed in the channel's usual range. That includes a look at the midterm races and a segment on Zach Bryan and a Tom Cruise flop. This is the second time in a week a Shapiro episode has run far past its usual start, after episode 2516 on the FlyDubai hijacking attempt, as we reported here. His channel as a whole, though, is drawing fewer daily views than it typically does.
