Video taking off 41x its usual first day

Olise, Doué and a lot of substitutions: beIN's France v Belgium reel

Michael Olise is again the name in the comments after a France highlights package, and viewers have a running joke about how much of the reel goes to players coming on.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 227,453 views a day, 41 times a normal first day on this channel (5,541).

France v Belgium | UEFA Nations League | Match HighlightsFrance v Belgium | UEFA Nations League | Match Highlights

"France v Belgium | UEFA Nations League | Match Highlights" carries the same plain title beIN SPORTS Australia gives every Nations League game, and it moved fast. Seven hours after it went up, it had passed 100,000 views. A new video here usually ends its whole first day at around five or six thousand.

France were also the big draw two nights earlier. Michael Olise was the name in the France v Italy reel, as we reported here, and he is again. The comment section was busier than on a usual first day before the day was even half over, and much of it is about him: his goals, how unbothered he looks after scoring them, and whether anyone is playing better right now. Viewers also point to Désiré Doué's control in the build-up to Olise's last goal, and to how well Rayan Cherki links up with both of them.

The coach gets his share too. The tags name Zinedine Zidane, and one viewer noticed him smiling on the touchline after Olise's second. The channel posted a separate short of Zidane the same day, billed as proof that his first touch is "still elite." That is a fair thing to check on a man who won the World Cup, the European Championship and the Ballon d'Or as a player.

Italy v Türkiye went up the same night and drew about half as many viewers in the same hours. Its tags name Esposito. Ukraine v Hungary and Romania v Sweden stayed under 10,000.

The France reel also has its own joke. One of the most liked comments announces that the Avengers have been subbed on, and another thanks the channel, with a straight face, for showing every crucial substitution.
