Sowore's claim about Tinubu in France lifts Arise News again
For the third day running, a single guest segment on the Lagos-based channel has left its usual first-day pace far behind.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 82,306 views a day, 23 times a normal first day on this channel (3,636).
Reliable Sources Have Said Tinubu Is Undergoing Treatment in France - Sowore
A fresh segment on Arise News typically draws a few thousand views on its first day before the next one takes its place. Omoyele Sowore's appearance did far better, opening at more than twenty times that pace.
That makes three days in a row. Before this came Fisayo Soyombo's Libya migration interview and a segment with Chizea on Peter Obi. The whole channel is also running somewhat above its usual daily level.
The title carries Sowore's central claim: reliable sources, he says, have told him that President Bola Tinubu is being treated in France. According to the description, he argues that the president's occasional public appearances are meant to mislead, and that officials are using the same language they used when Umaru Musa Yar'Adua and Muhammadu Buhari spent long periods ill in hospital, namely that a president can govern from anywhere. The claim is his own and is not confirmed in the segment's facts.
Sowore appears here as an activist and presidential candidate for the African Action Congress. He is also the founder of Sahara Reporters and ran for president in 2019 and 2023.
