Friends, cringe and a D&D detour fill Answer in Progress's week
Sabrina Cruz, Taha Khan and Melissa Fernandes asked whether a beloved sitcom got something wrong, then whether being yourself is cringe, while a 20-day-old Dungeons & Dragons video nears three-quarters of a million views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
does f.r.i.e.n.d.s have it wrong or do i?
"being yourself might be cringe" is the newest question on Answer in Progress, the channel where Sabrina Cruz, Taha Khan and Melissa Fernandes set out, in their own description, to figure things out from square one, stumbles included. It went up on October 1, and within half a day it was the busiest thing on the channel.
It arrived two days after "does f.r.i.e.n.d.s have it wrong or do i?", which takes on the sitcom that has spent three decades teaching viewers what adult friendship is supposed to look like. The tags put all three producers on both videos. The Friends episode opened strongly and has since settled into a steady pace.
The longer story belongs to "how D&D accidentally broke capitalism". Twenty days old, it is close to three-quarters of a million views and is still moving at nearly the pace of the Friends video. Its chapters run from the trio actually sitting down to play, to a new show of their own, to the Open Game License fight and the actual-play boom of Critical Role and The Adventure Zone. The question it chases is why the money from Dungeons & Dragons' revival flowed to players, artists and actors rather than to Hasbro.
Two uploads have lifted the channel's daily views noticeably above their usual level. Among the explainer channels near its size, JackSucksAtGeography is having the big week, while Philosophy Tube is ticking along gently.
