What exactly is a token? GenerAIly Speaking opens with two clips for AWS

Both clips come from the premiere of a new AI show that airs every other Wednesday on Twitch and YouTube, and together they passed 175,000 views in three days.

What is a token, and why does it end up on the bill? Amazon Web Services put both questions to its viewers on Friday, in two clips cut from the premiere episode of GenerAIly Speaking, a new AI show that streams every other Wednesday on Twitch and on the channel.

The first clip opens up the transformer and walks through how a prompt gets chopped into the chunks a model actually reads. The description calls it a beginner-friendly deep dive. The second, "Let's Talk Tokenomics," follows the money: how to see who is spending what on Amazon Bedrock, using tools such as Cost Explorer and CloudWatch, and how to set alarms before a budget runs away. The two have moved almost in step. Each is close to 90,000 views, far beyond anything else the channel posted. The one comment on the token clip simply thanks the team for the series and asks for more.

The rest of a fifteen-upload week was quieter. Matt Wood, the company's Chief AI and Technology Officer, took on running AI in production for AI Answered, and a show built around a made-up firm called Northwind Importer and Exporter went up as "Same Code, New Chip, Who Dis?" A live chat with the NFL about Next Gen Stats, the league's player-tracking numbers that AWS powers, drew a smaller crowd.

The channel ran warmer than usual and gained about 1.7 million views over the week. Among technology company and software channels of its size, only Nate Herk's AI automation channel added more, with Microsoft Copilot not far behind.
