Frog, eel and turtle traps follow, but DO Animals' fish trap still leads
A month after it went up, the stick-built fish trap is past 1.3 million views and brought in more than half of the channel's views on its latest day.
Why this story? The video is running at 55,855 views a day, 5.4 times its usual pace (10,277).
Survival Skills: SIMPLE and USEFUL with Fish trapping tool #survival #bushcraft #fishing
"Survival Skills: SIMPLE and USEFUL with Fish trapping tool #survival #bushcraft #fishing" went up on DO Animals in early September, and a month later it is still the video doing the channel's heavy lifting. As we reported here, it passed 1.2 million views two days ago. It has since cleared 1.3 million, and on its latest day it pulled in about 56,000 views, more than half of everything the whole channel drew.
DO Animals works in variations. The titles open with the same words and change only the catch. Since the fish trap, the channel has posted a turtle trap, an eel trap, two forest clips billed as a "SMART idea" and, two days ago, a trap for a big frog. The eel video has done best of those, in the tens of thousands. The frog trap is still in the low thousands. Most outdoors and homesteading channels close to DO Animals in size, from Farmhouse on Boone to Anne of All Trades, are running below their usual pace.
What stands out is how quiet this crowd is. A video with well over a million views has only a couple of dozen comments, and none arrived in the last day, even as hundreds of new likes did. The comments that are there are mostly emoji and laughter. One viewer names the catch as a catfish, another types out the clip's sound effects syllable by syllable, and a viewer writing in Hindi jokes that the person filming could simply have reached in by hand.
