Most new CNN uploads open quietly and step aside for the next segment within hours. "Less than 1% of GOP midterm ads mention Trump: What's really going on" did not. Its first day came in at roughly twenty-four times the pace a new video on the channel usually manages.
That pace matters more on a channel that posts constantly. On its own, the day-old segment is moving at close to a quarter of the rate the entire CNN channel keeps in a typical day, and the comment section is busy too.
The title promises analysis rather than breaking news. It asks why Republican campaigns heading into the midterms are leaving Donald Trump out of nearly all of their advertising, and "What's really going on" signals an explanation to follow.
Last week the channel's busiest uploads all came from one Saturday batch, led by an Erin Burnett recap. This time a single Sunday explainer is carrying the load by itself.
